EMPORIA, KANSAS – A traumatized fan recounts her experience after witnessing James Conrad’s violent outburst at a disc golf tournament last year.
“I have never been more scared for my life,” said Maige Mierce, a disc golf enthusiast and Conrad fan of over 20 years.
“I could tell something was off with him before the tournament even started,” she explained, “his ponytail wasn’t as shiny as it normally is, and it didn’t even look like he had used conditioner the last time he washed it.” She added in disgust.
“His round seemed to be going pretty well leading up to the incident.” Said Maige. “He was on the Jomez lead card and seemed to be really focused and centered after his six hour long pre-round meditation session. There was no indication that he was having any pressure thoughts and appeared to be letting the basket just bleed away.”
“And that’s when it happened. He missed his circle’s edge birdie putt and in a rage-induced outburst, he just hauled off and sucker-punched a tree; totally unprovoked. He hit it so hard that I’m honestly surprised it’s still standing.”
She went on: “All hell broke loose when he turned back to look at the spectator gallery. People were running and diving to get away from him; one volunteer spotter scaled a 75-foot pine tree faster than I thought was humanly possible. I even saw one lady shove her young daughter toward him just to give herself more time to escape. Who even does that?”
“As far as I know, he still hasn’t faced any repercussions for his actions that dreadful day.” Said Maige. “No prison time, fines, suspensions… nothing. It’s ridiculous, especially after his other recent outbursts.”
